Tax Day USA

I paid my state and federal income taxes yesterday. Ouch! Government do take a bite, don't she? No shite.

Just a little fodder for those of you who want to look for loopholes in the tax code. If anyone can find a way out, its gotta be Irwin Schiff. Of course, I make no endorsement of his beliefs, other than his right to free speech as protected by the Bill of Rights.

Fight the man!

No Respect

Now that the hulabaloo over the death of J.P. II is pretty much over, we can get back to the business of watching other media personalities bite the dust. Sure, stars come and go, drunk and sober all the time. But there's nothing like a good mug shot of a famous person to remind us just how fragile the thin red line is between the Oscar carpet and our own lack of fame.

I bring up the case of Frederick Christopher Klein, a.k.a, the "Oz" from American Pie I and American Pie II. Poor guy, as famous as he is, it took two months for the usually reliable The Smoking Gun to catch up to his mug shot. Does that mean he's on his way out? Nope, just lost in the shuffle.

I saw this guy on stage with Freddy Prinze, Jr. back in February of 2003 in London's West End. I can't remember the play they did, but I do remember thinking throughout the show, "Jeez, Chris Klein sure is a tall dude." He was acceptable, but only because the character he was playing was a slob, so he didn't have to reach to far to fill the role out.

I'm so happy that I'm not famous enough to ever have my mug shot and police complaint leaked to a web site.

The End of Times

I don't usually watch prime-time network television. I'm a cable junkie for the most part, preferring the likes of the Discovery channel or A&E. Somehow I bought into the NBC hype and watched the first episode of their new miniseries, 'Revelations' last night. It stars the likeable Bill Pullman as a scientist who is drawn into a search for clues about the end of days as predicted in the Book of Revelations.

Nothing too revealing in this made-for-television miniseries. It's all confusing fluff in the style of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. Let's hope the genius behind the tv show brings us some real heaven vs. hell conflict soon or else I'm tuning out.

There is nothing worse than a drama that promises to deliver the face of God but eventually shies away so that you are left without the satisfaction you deserve.

Gone, But Not Forgotten

Ahh, what a busy few months this has been. The merry-go-round doesn't stop for the timid nor for the folks waiting in line, eh? Hmmm, isn't there a song with that lyric in it somewhere?

Well, the busy part of life has been work, work, work, family, work, work, etc...

I was hosting my brother-in-law and family for the past seven months at home. My sister's family moved up to the Minnesota area last October in the hopes of reconnecting to family and family values. Unfortunately, no permanent connection was made, but I did get a lot of time with my beautiful niece, Lillian Margaret.

I wish I had some pix of her to post. She's almost eleven months old and the things she can do are just incredible. Walking, babbling, communicating, eating, sleeping, etc... It's just fantastic to see her grow so much in such a short time span. I swear to Yaweh, babies are like crystal meth: addictive and a great time-waster. I found myself just staring at her for hours watching her play just hoping that she'd show off something new she learned.

But now she's gone along with her family. They've moved to a little town in South Carolina named Fort Mills which is located somewhere between Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC. Jobs and family might be better for them in that area than in Minnesota. I wish the three of them the best of luck. I know you gotta do what's right for the family, but it's hard to say goodbye to such a cute baby like Lilly. Going cold turkey, you know?

Now I gotta find my "fix" of the cute baby thing from somewhere else. Maybe a dog? Sure, dogs do tricks, but they can't smile or shy away when you direct love at them like a child. Maybe a couple of dogs?

My house is really empty these days without my family around.
